You Are Stardust...

The artwork by Soyeon Kim in You Are Stardust written by Elin Kelsey is incredible. A beautiful sight to behold

One of the most unique picture book ideas I've come across in a long time, Cecil the Pet Glacier by Matthea Harvey and Giselle Potter, tells of Ruby who just longs to be normal which she finds increasingly difficult with a tiara-toting mother and a topiary-loving father. Not to mention the little glacier from Norway that has adopted her as pet owner. Who knew a little iceberg could be so heartwarming? :)

I Loved as a Kid...

This book with no words, just excellent pictures telling this mouse's tale, was one of my favorites as a little kid.  I was spellbound...

I love hearing about how an author came up with their book idea...

Great Line...

A wonderful line that perfectly captures the bummed out blues that sometimes catches us all...

Illustrator of the Day...

My mom! I originally got into this business of picture book writing with the hopes that my mom would illustrate my books. One quickly learns, however, that the first rule of publishing for us newbies is we have no say whatsoever in who the illustrator is. I still hold out hope that one day, after I'm a successfully established PB author extraordinaire, I'll get to collaborate with my mom, Teresa Maree Dudik!

Here are a few cards she has made for Nellie over the years:

"One" to Read...

I love it when a book's simple concept conveys a great big message,

and holding your breath."
