Maggie Loves A Good Book...

Girl after my own heart!

Inspired Picture Books...

Here are two books I had to grab at the library from the New Picture Books shelves, same author and both from Kids Can Press...(Kyo Maclear)
And the best part is that both books are loosely based on real, historical figures. Virginia Woolf and the founder of the Fluxus movement, George Maciunas. Proving just how versatile writing for children can be, and that picture books can take complicated ideas and beautifully simplify them for a younger audience. Nothing is off limits if you have the vision and the imagination to bring it to life for children in a way that speaks to them. That is true magic.

Celebrate Children's Book Week...

Happy Children's Book Week!

Excited I'll be doing my element of craft presentation in class tonight, in which I'll be examining dialogue as used successfully in the most wonderful picture book, Library Lion By Michelle Knudsen, illustrated by Kevin Hawkes.
